DisplayPort 2.1 introduces updated cable specifications that provide greater robustness and enhanced performance for both full-size DisplayPort and Mini DisplayPort cable configurations. These improvements enable longer cable lengths while maintaining Ultra High Bit Rate (UHBR) performance, supporting cable lengths beyond two meters for DP40 cables and beyond one meter for DP80 cables without compromising signal integrity.
VESA-certified DP80 cables support the UHBR20 link rate of up to 20 Gbps per lane. With four lanes, they provide a maximum aggregate bandwidth of 80 Gbps. VESA-certified DP54 cables support the UHBR13.5 link rate of up to 13.5 Gbps per lane, delivering a total bandwidth of 54 Gbps across four lanes.
VESA-certified DP40 cables support the UHBR10 link rate of up to 10 Gbps per lane, providing a maximum throughput of 40 Gbps across four lanes. These advancements ensure reliable high-bandwidth connectivity for next-generation displays, gaming systems, professional workstations, and other performance-demanding applications.
